On this blog the members of Sky-is-the-Limit group show the results of the challenge quilts they make. We started with each quarter a new theme, but have changed this to a monthly theme. Knowing that life can interfere with good intentions it is not compulsary to make a quilt each month, but at least 4 quilts per year should be doable. Every quilt measures 12"x12".
I agree, Irene, the colours are lovely. Is that a piece of hand-dyed fabric hiding behind the squares? I really like the little stars stitched in the centre of each of the smaller pieces. Mandy Hague
Thank you all for your kind comments, the background fabric is tray-dyed cotton, dyed with acid lemon, royal blue and a little turquoise, you may see this again in a different guise as it's cut from a much larger piece! I love hand dyed fabrics and invariably use them if I can. I work with Linda Maynard for a day once every two months and her constant encouragement leads me to try out new techniques and colour mixes. At the moment I have dyed three shades of golden yellow, four pieces of each shade and am now over dyeing them with three shades of mauve in mixes of 2 of Royal Blue to 1 of Magenta. I can't wait to see the results when they are washed dried and ironed.
I'm another one who was not familiar with this artist. I love how your were inspired by her work. And thanks for introducing her to us! Checked out her work....so many wonderful pieces! It's a beautiful quilt!
The colours are so lovely together. I must go and look up this artist.

I never heard of this artist, but I love what you did with this piece.
