On this blog the members of Sky-is-the-Limit group show the results of the challenge quilts they make. We started with each quarter a new theme, but have changed this to a monthly theme. Knowing that life can interfere with good intentions it is not compulsary to make a quilt each month, but at least 4 quilts per year should be doable. Every quilt measures 12"x12".

Contrast
This is my "contrast" quilt. The basic design came from a workshop on "Notan" which I attended back in September 2011. I thoroughly enjoyed all the cutting out of paper we were doing at the time, but couldn't work out how to turn any of it into a textile piece. Well, not until now.
This is bondaweb applique onto an evenweave embroidery cotton from my stash. The applique fabrics were my own painted and dyed samples. Quilted, with a bias binding edging.
I was playing around with contrasts in texture and colour.

Mandy ,this is super!Lovely quilting as usual.
ReplyDeleteI say it again. I love the blue orange contrast. Interesting the effect you have with your counterchange (that is what it was called when I did it many years ago in school)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Hilary and Irene. I find it fascinating that blue and orange feature so strongly in each of the pieces shown so far on this theme.
ReplyDeleteLove the contrast between dark and light. On my computer I can't see any blue - just orange and what looks like dark grey against the white.
ReplyDeleteGood result with the texture and the notan.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for commenting, Wil and Diane. The blue of the original is really very close to a dark grey, Diane.
